Get in TouchDo I need planning permission for an automatic gate system?
If the gate you are going to install is higher than 1m and “adjacent” to a footpath or road, you’ll need planning permission.
Can my existing gate be automated?
In a lot of circumstances an existing gate can be automated, but this will be confirmed with a full on site survey. Generally there is a model of automation that can be specified to fit in with an existing gateway, whether that would be an underground motor system or above ground.
How much electricity does an automated gate use?
When on standby, electric gates will approximately consume 100 watts (w) of electricity a day. When active, they can use up to 700w a day, but their running time is limited to approximately 20 seconds. This means every cycle of your gates adds 0.2 pence to your energy bill.
Do electric gates add value to a property?
Typically an electric gate can add up to 5% on a house value. Added security and aesthetics, stand out as two major benefits of having an electric gate.
What happens to electric gates when the power goes out?
We do offer battery backup systems for all our gate systems if required, but in the event of a power loss all the gate systems can be manually released so you can open the gates until power is restored.
